Nuevos Medios: Vocabulario de diseño y técnicas

Layout: how words and images are organized on the page . Designers can create an infinite number of subtle variations in the layout, considering the importance of an specific text or image.

Images: this are used to communicate their message in an instantaneous and evocative way.
-Thumbnail: a small image that links to a page containing a larger version
-Icon: a small image used as a navigation device

Color: it is used to distinguish between choices, to color code, to categorize sets of information or to guide people. It is represented by light in the form of three colors : red , green and blue.
-Subtractive colors: used for printed material is made up of the three secondary colors: cyan, magenta and yellow.

Sequence: is used in print graphics in relation to the succession of the spreads in a book or magazine.

Continuity: Website designers use layout and color to create continuity.

Sound: can evoke physical materials, weight, sped and spatial context, and change mood and suggest irony.

Movement: it can be used to structure, dramatize, inform, create mood and evoke associations.

Narrative: is referred as the story (content) and the telling of the story (expression). Involves developing a plot that propels the story forwards and structuring events that unfold over time.

Association and interpretation: designers associate ideas expressed in words with scenarios, characters, visual qualities, etc, creating metaphors or analogies that can be substituted for the written concept.

Prototyping: is a first version of a design solution built to exact technical specifications so that it an be tested.

Style guide: is a detailed document that sets out visual and functional guidelines for the organization of information.

Usability: it's a term that describe the ease with which the user of a product can understand how it works and how to get it to perform.

User-centered design: design should empower individuals and improve society, audience research is vital for this.

The design process: The first thing is to find a need for a new product or website, then search for designers or new media companies capable of developing the job.

The design brief: The brief is usually a written document that outlines the target audience and the business goal the client wants to achieve and gives the project deadlines.

Commercial web design: the strategy and aims of the site.

The creative process: to use creative techniques, to generate the ideas that will be developed in the site.
